If you are a caregiver for a loved one with dementia, Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA) invites you to enroll in Creating Confident Caregivers (CCC). Caregivers often neglect their own needs, leading to stress and burnout; the six-week CCC program provides caregivers with information, skills and coping mechanisms to manage stress while providing the best care for your loved one.

There is no charge for the program; a $10.00 materials fee is requested, but not required. If needed, free in-home respite is provided for the person with dementia. Kathy Boles, President and CEO of Valley Area Agency on Aging says, “Providing care for a loved one can be stressful. Caregiver burnout is one of the main reasons that seniors are placed in Nursing Facilities. Creating Confident Caregivers provides tools that caregivers need, such as understanding the dementia process, techniques for personal care and re-direction, effective coping mechanisms and, most importantly, teaches caregivers that they need care as well.”
